Sass Peepre Junior Training Camp

The Sass Peepre Junior Training Camp is for junior orienteers ranging in age from 10 to 20 years. Orienteers new to the sport and Canadian Champion level orienteers are all welcome and encouraged to participate. Training will be geared to the appropriate age and competitive level for each and every participant. The camp traditionally sees participants from across Canada, both east to west and north to south, as well as participants from the United States.

This picture is from the 2009 camp with the youngsters with their coaches and members of the senior team who join in to meet and mentor the campers.

Sass Peepre is an active, educational, fun-filled and friend-filled few days and is an excellent precursor to the Canadian Championships. Build on your orienteering skills, then practice what you have learned the following weekend, and get feedback from your coaches. In addition, many of the camp coaches will be competitive athletes themselves, so you can follow their progress at the Canadian Championships as well.

Parents Volunteer Opportunities

Parents, we need volunteers to help coach, to prepare meals, to supervise the younger children, to help with administrative duties, to drive athletes to training locations. If you will be available to stay with the group at Carleton University and to help with the camp, please indicate this on your child's registration form.

Coaches - young and old, new and experienced - we need you !

We need many coaches for the junior orienteers, who range from novice to national junior team level. Whether you are a National Team athlete (either current or past), or a parent of a camp participant, please consider offering your time. New coaches will work with experienced coaches as assistants and/or with the novice athletes. Many coaches makes light work!
