What a beautiful Day!

With a great setup by Bill Anderson, this was an unusual event, because he added Ghost Controls to force people to map read. These were the rules: Some of the controls did not have a number, and nearby one could find / see another control, also without a number (the Ghost Control). Only proper map reading would ensure that the correct control was punched. For each Ghost control that was punched instead of the correct control, 30 seconds would be added to the competitors' score.

The paper printout that everybody gets when downloading showed Ghost punches as MP (mispunch). I went through the final results and adjusted the time to the Finish Control by 30 seconds per valid Ghost Control. If your results still show as a mispunch, it's because your error was not a straight Ghost Punch mistake.

Here are the control numbers for the correct controls, and their Ghosts:

 CorrectGhost
G1202226
G2205220
G4204227
G5214228
G6219229
G7225230
G8220205

Here then are the results:

Hi - Bill here. Thanks again to our fabulous registration and results crews for a successful event. Thanks also to Stefan & Alexander for the control pick-up and to my controller for her patience. I look forward to another event there next spring and the City people are too. I will give them a donation for the upkeep of the museum for all their assistance.

I received mixed re-actions on the ghost control concept but I like to try new twists on our standard formats. I am looking for a good opportunity to set up a full Trail-O competition where all the controls are un-numbered and there are 2 or 3 "ghosts" at every site.
