- Training Camp The club held a very successful training camp at Foley Mountain in June. So successful there are plans to hold one again. It provided our younger members a chance to build friends and confidence and also gave newer adult members a chance to meet others and explore new terrain. Last year there were 30+ volunteers who made this such a success - in roles from coaching, course setting, meal preparation, and more. There is something for everyone.
- Mapping - With a good amount of LIDAR available from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry avaiable , there is a good amount of land now available for new maps. Mappers and potential mappers should contact Cette adresse e-mail est protégée contre les robots spammeurs. Vous devez activer le JavaScript pour la visualiser.. There are training courses available.
- New volunteers - we have five new meet directors this year as well as five helpers on the SI (timing) team. Volunteering is a great way to get to meet folks and to contribute to our sport.
- Board of Directors - our 2024 Board of Directors are Rikard Andersson, President; Andrew Noseworthy, treasurer; Ian Bolens, Secretary; returning Members at large, Stefan Bergstrom, Brian Mahoney, Omer Majeed, Roy Boerschke, and new Members at Large, Paul Lefebvre and Etienne Gall. Following the AGM we enjoyed our annual pot-luck social, watched some new videos of the Canadian and North American Championships, and recognized our club award winners. (link to be inserted)
The main take-aways from the AGM were:
- We have a very busy, very successful club with activities for all levels of orienteering
- While we have a very strong volunteer group, there is something for everyone to help keep the club going in such a strong fashion.
