Summer Solstice 2018 finale

Congratulations to  our Summer Solstice top ten and to the 4 new meet directors and their controllers who set the courses.  Our revised handicap system seems to have made great strides toward 'leveling the field' - the goal of this series.  In the top 20 finishers we had 5 women, one father /8 year old son team, one 10 year old running on his own with Mom shadowing, 3 experienced juniors and, with all the extra help our newcomers and youngsters were given, Robbie Graham, one of our national High Performance Program members, still managed to at least share top spot.

It was great to see so many young runners ( as young as 7 years old !)  running with friends or family members, some tackling the course on their own .

Mother Nature looked kindly on us as the day was perfect - sunny with a bit of a breeze.

Marnie Beaubien said it all in her email as follows:

I really want to thank the whole team for such amazing events. I can't say how long I have been coming to these Tuesday Solstice events in June.. but awhile now. For $9 it is amazing value! and I know just a fraction of the work, involved. Picking the site, designing the course, checking it, setting up controls adding all the gadgets, making the maps for the event (all the work gone into previous maps), registration - providing refreshments and pizza, water stations, all the timing and results on site! Setting up tents for whatever weather might happen, phone calls. I love route gadget! who needs Netflix.  Great weather, Good attendance.
It is so much work - by an enthusiastic team.. always. And provides a lot of fun.
I know this last race was easy, but it was fun. Even though the controls were never far from path, almost all were hidden for a brief time, behind a rock, etc.  It's the first time I was able to get all the controls with no wrong turns.. Just need to run faster.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Thank you Marnie for your kind words.
You can see the full results at  and the RouteGadget, for each of the meets, for some summer fun (away from Netflix) on a rainy summer day, at
