COVID-19 Communication

At this point you have no doubt heard from everyone from your insurance company to your gym to your community association with updates about how they are dealing with COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Now it is our turn to respond and let you know that this is something we are taking very seriously. Like everyone else Orienteering Ottawa is carefully considering how best to deal with the situation for our members, volunteers, and the general public. Discussions are ongoing and the board of directors is scheduling an emergency meeting for later this week to come up with a plan.

At this point we can say the following:

We recognize that getting outdoors and in the woods can be very important for physical and mental health, both of which are going to be super important in the coming weeks and months. If we can come up with a solution that puts the health and safety of all above all else we will provide opportunities to get out in the woods with a map.

We don't yet have a plan for specific programs and events but we will be extremely flexible and accommodating with respect to registration deadlines and refunds (regardless of whether we cancel or you do). We don't want anyone to feel rushed in making a decision or locked into anything because they pay for knowing the situation is changing on an hourly basis.

Our program info sessions scheduled for March 30th and 31st have been cancelled. See these links (March 30th - East endMarch 31st - West end) for a more detailed statement.

We will be doing our best to communicate on a regular timely basis as the situation and our plan evolves. Watch our websiteFacebook, Twitter

Stay healthy, stay safe, stay sane.
